The Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) forthcoming lecture will focus on sports technology and will have a particular focus on the role technology plays in sport for the disabled.
The speaker is Dr David James, senior lecturer in sports engineering at Sheffield Hallam University and the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Public Engagement Fellow. He will explore the impact of technology in Paralympic sport and debate how we ensure that the values of sport are not corrupted by the enhancement techniques pioneered by the sports scientist and engineer.

Dr. David Howe will be Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta from the 7th of February until the 1st of March. While there David be giving a couple of presentations (follow links below) and will be discussing existing and potential research projects with a number of staff across the faculty.

Opportunity to become a Fitness Instructor with InstructAbility - updated 17/01/12
If you are disabled, over 16, live in a London borough and would like to work in the fitness industry then this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!
Aspire, in partnership with YMCAFit, are running FREE courses to train disabled individuals as fitness instructors. Open poster here.
The course consists of 15 days (over a 3 month period) followed by a 6 week work placement at a local gym (2 days per week) where you can put everything you have learnt into practice.
